the alignment model

Organisations and businesses are active structures and function best when their components are designed to work together smoothly and efficiently. The alignment model is a simplified framework for understanding the relationship between various organisational elements.

The model describes two interdependent paths. Both starting with a common purpose and both ending with business results.

strategic - what we do

The left-hand path emphasises what needs to be done: the strategic goals the organisation will work toward, the objectives that groups and individuals must accomplish to carry out those strategies, the activities that must be performed to meet goals and objectives.

people/cultural - how we do it

The right-hand path emphasises how things should be done: the values that will guide people in carrying out the purpose and vision, the practices which reflect those values, the specific, day-to-day behaviors which will represent the values and practices to others as people go about their work. Note that these values reflect how an organisation intends to conducts it business — not people's personal values about home, family, religion or personal relationships.

Syncro's work has a bias to the right-hand path through leadership, personal and team development interventions. This bias does not sit in isolation as compatibility with matters of strategy and business results are all parts of the alignment picture and are part of our businss facilitation workshops.
